Overview: Whether you want to call it an “intentional community”, “co-op”, or “a big house”, we’re a bunch of people who share at least one value: we like living together.
We generally share a love of nature, self-development, and enthusiasm for group activities (jamming in the living room, movie nights, hikes, etc.
); however, a fair number of us are introverted at times.
We have some basic community guidelines which can be boiled down to pick up after yourself, help care for our community (meaning the house and the people), and respect one another.
The house is also both international and LGBTQ friendly; i.
e.
there are housemates from France, Germany, and Nigeria as well as people who identify as gay, straight, and asexual.
Rent & fees: Month-to-month lease ($850/month).
One month's rent deposit (covers your last month).
$335/month to a collectively-managed “community fund”, which is used to pay for shared groceries, utilities, miscellaneous home projects, biweekly cleaners, and pool maintenance.
This means that your internet/electricity/water/trash would be covered, as well as most/all groceries (the house typically doesn’t pay for alcohol or specialty items like $40 steaks, but does pay for pretty much anything you’d eat in a given week.
)
Bedroom/bathroom situation: There are four shared rooms (the smallest has 2 beds and the largest has 5; rooms are currently co-ed) as well as 5 full bathrooms.
Amenities / House: Single story home (small mansion) in the Emerald Hills/Redwood City area.
We have a fully-equipped kitchen (gas stove), washer/dryer, three large communal spaces with TVs, musical instruments, reading and working areas, and a spacious backyard.
The backyard features a pool, hot tub, fire pit, brick pizza oven (handmade by one of our housemates), and sauna (inside a detached room).
We also have a garage with a home gym area, bike racks, and workshop.
Parking / Bike Storage: Parking is limited to one car per resident, and we sometimes need to park on a nearby street.
Bike storage is available, preferably for one bike per resident (but talk to us if you have multiple!).
Privacy / Quiet space: Despite having many residents, the house is generally quiet and is large enough that if you find something/someone distracting, you’ll have no trouble finding a nice quiet spot – We’re also all very open with one another about our needs (“Would you mind using headphones while you practice piano?”).
As far as overnight guests - family members, significant others, friends - we all have access to a detached, private room and any housemate can reserve it for themselves when they’d like (poolhouse, pictured).
Allergens / Pets / Smoking: We have one outdoor cat that does enjoy coming inside from time to time.
We do not allow indoor smoking, but there is a space in the backyard for doing so.
