Available right away.
Clean, quiet room, about 12' x 12', ideal for a graduate student or post-doc seeking peace and quiet to get lots of work done in a short time.
This is likely to be the quietest household share you will find (headphones for TV and PC, etc.
, have been the norm in the house for years), and it's close to all kinds of resources.
It's possible to live here long term without a car, indeed all four current housemates (1 Tesla engineer, 3 Stanford post-docs) do not own cars at present.
Cooperative peace and quiet is the norm and goal in the house.
This rental, and house, are *not* ideal for any one who wants to live a loud, high-traffic social life with regular group get togethers, etc.
.
The kitchen is simple and shared by all, so it's good for simple meals but not ideal for someone who loves to cook.
Room may be rented unfurnished if you wish to bring in your own furniture.
The rate is the same whether furnished or unfurnished.
Nice plusses: this room has a small, private, outdoor deck about 4' x 8' for the use of this room's tenant only -- the back door of room opens onto it, and the bathroom has a new floor and shower.
***Important detail***: the bathroom for this room is "suite style" (a door on each side of the bathroom opens onto a room), with a new floor and shower, and is shared with 1 other tenant only (male, who has let me know he is OK with sharing the bathroom with a female).
Utilities are shared equally by all (usually 5 tenants' usage is split 6 ways -- landlord pays a share), and all tenants are conservation minded (you will not end up paying more than your share due to any one else being careless with utility use, though the cost is shared -- non-abuse of utilities is a term in the lease).

Location: 1 block from Escondido Elementary (which is on Stanford Campus), close to recreation in Stanford hills (Cow Hill, "The Dish"), and 3 small private neighborhood parks.
Blockaded neighborhood, extremely safe, quiet, lushly tree lined.
Peaceful.
Specific amenities: Starbucks (1/3 mile), several grocery stores nearby (Molly Stones, Trader Joe's, Real Produce International, several more), numerous restaurants including several fast food, laundromats (both pay laundry service and self-serve), much more.
No: laundry onsite, dishes in the kitchen sink overnight, loud noise after 9pm or parties, pets, smoking or drugs.
***Please do note this***: absolutely no smoking of any kind inside the house.
People who love drugs and/or alcohol will not fit well, here.
Furnished: yes, as pictured, but can also be rented unfurnished if desired.
A clean, full-sized bed is included, but can also be removed if desired.
The price is the same, furnished/unfurnished.
Parking: there is one off-street parking spot that is shared by all tenants, plus street parking.
The streets are very quiet and wide for a two-lane residential street (very safe for parking).
Permits are required for street parking and are $50 per year (this is a plus, because being close to campus it prevents students from parking cars in the neighborhood to bike into campus from their cars, avoiding a parking mess).
Lease: 6 months or 1 year, 1 year preferred, with 1st month trial period.
Rent for 6-month or 1 year lease is $1165/mo, or $1175 for month-to-month.
Trial 1st month is at $1165.
Utilities: as above, actual cost, split equally among all tenants (usually 5 or 6 ways -- this includes high-speed internet).
***Important***: overnight guests are formally prohibited.
With 5 full-time tenants the chances of a guest -- someone who does not even pay rent -- becoming a problem for all residents are too high, and that has come up in the past.
For the right housemate, this item is a plus, not a minus.
