The Position The Girls’ Middle School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Communications Manager beginning immediately.
The Communications Manager reports to the Head of School and works closely with other administrative leaders.
The Communications Manager will serve as GMS’s “chief storyteller” – developing and delivering key messages, ensuring consistency across all communications, and reinforcing the mission and goals of the School.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Envision and craft compelling communications about GMS and deliver these messages effectively across many platforms – social media, website, Advancement and Admission materials, school newsletters, the Annual Report, etc.
Serve as the primary writer, editor, photographer, and creative director for internal and external communications and marketing efforts.
Ensure consistency across platforms, audiences, and vehicles.
Create, plan, and execute a Communications strategy for GMS.
Identify metrics and measure success in order to inform strategy, tactics, and messaging.
Collaborate with the Head of School in crafting oral and written messaging, including internal and external emails, monthly HOS updates, and presentations.
Partner with the Director of Advancement and Director of Admission to produce collateral, event materials, marketing campaigns, video and web-based content.
Manage the school’s website (www.
girlsms.
org), family portals, social media presence, weekly internal e-newsletter, style guide, and online calendars.
Attend and assist in the execution of major school events, including evening and weekend Admission and Advancement events as requested.
Key Qualifications and Abilities Bachelor’s Degree.
Marketing and/or communications experience required.
Independent school or non-profit experience preferred.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and editing skills.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Ability to be a self-starter and work independently.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite, Finalisite, and social media platforms.
Familiarity with SmugMug, Adobe, Constant Contact, Canva, Hootsuite, Raiser’s Edge, Veracross, YouTube, and emergent technologies a plus.
Digital photography and graphic design skills.
Video production experience a plus.
A cooperative team approach with colleagues and other community members, including parents, students, Board members, and alums.
Sound judgment relating to confidential projects, personnel, school, or student matters.
Spanish language proficiency a plus.
This is a full-time, year-round, in-person position.
On occasion, some job responsibilities may require evening and weekend work.

The salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience.
