Meta is looking for a forward thinking Network Operations Engineer with technical skills in critical infrastructure including HVAC, AC electrical generators, AC electrical ATS, and DC power plant or network engineering including IP backbone principles to join the network operations team.
The team improves operational efficiency and reliability of one of the most dynamic, fast-paced networks in the world.
The right candidate will be comfortable in a fast moving organization and enjoy digging into operational pain points in order to implement the process enhancements and automation solutions to solve them.
The ideal candidate loves identifying root causes in complex systems and quickly learning new domain expertise and technologies.
Network Operations Engineer, Critical Infrastructure Responsibilities: Engage in system level facility troubleshooting of Utilities, Switchgear, UPS/DC Power Plant, PDUs, mechanical cooling and LV distribution.
Manage global space, power, cabling, and other inside plant infrastructure requirements in support of edge network requirements, present and future.
Present optimized layout of edge site floorplans, allocate space assigned to network function, optical, backbone, IP, compute, etc.
Exhibit proactive communication and think with a product and customer mindset.
Build capacity reporting to analyze long-term trends to drive quality, efficiency, cost, and timeliness, and evolve this over time to match changes to the infrastructure and business requirements.
Anticipate potential operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate/minimize, and proactively contribute to documentation, automation, and processes as they evolve.
Participate in on-call rotations with the global operations team and improve escalation and emergency response with detailed postmortem while addressing issues systematically to prevent future occurrences.
Supervise the global support center's operations and be the escalation point of contact.
Build cross-functional relationships with Network & Systems Engineering, Network Investments, Logistics, Program Management, and OEM partners to deliver superb operational results and manage the performance of external vendors.
Availability to travel at least 15% of the time (domestic and international).
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
6+ years experience of Data Center, Collocations, and Remote Hut environments, to include engineering principles regarding power and other infrastructure.
Expert hands on experience in analyzing Electrical/Mechanical single line diagrams.
Technical knowledge of various regional Data Center electrical and cooling configurations, IEC, NEMA standards, AC/DC power, power redundancy scenarios.
Experience with communication and directing tasks with carriers remotely.
Demonstrate experience analyzing situations and utilizing troubleshooting experience, systems and tools, and problem solving.
Project management and organizational experience.
Experience working in a global team environment.
Analytical, interpersonal, and communications experience.
Preferred Qualifications: MEP focused PE/CE Engineers are preferred.
Experience with network design, installation and maintenance for service providers or enterprise networks.
Expert knowledge of data driven analysis and systems integration.
Knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, network management/monitoring protocols and routing protocols such as BGP, ISIS, OSPF, and MPLS.
