In this position, you will perform maintenance tasks of substantial complexity under general supervision.
You will leverage in-depth knowledge in two or more trades such as carpentry, plumbing, roofing, sign shop, welding or other related trades to support assigned duties.
This position reports to the Facilities F&O Building and Space Management Business Partner Supervisor.
*Your specific responsibilities include:*
* Perform a broad range of complex maintenance, preventive maintenance, repair, and other related tasks in support building installations, space management and interior and exterior infrastructures.
The scope of work entails any of the following:
* Preventative maintenance on a variety of installations such as emergency eye wash and showers in the lab areas throughout the facility.
* Mechanical functions including exhaust/duct work that may be in the form of insulation, adding branch lines, repair, and/or adjusting registers.
* Plumbing - replacement of fixtures that are leaking such as a faucet or toilet, work on valves, Flushometers, etc.
It also entails unclogging fixtures.
* Assist with signage throughout the facility which may entail making and installing name plates, hanging signs, etc.
* Assist with work in the experimental laboratory/hutches that may involve disassembling and/or assembling as per the lab/hutch setup/structure.
* Receiving functions entailing the receipt of items including materials, parts, and supplies.
* Respond to work order requests and emergencies, engage in project work, and perform scheduled preventative maintenance.

*To be successful in this position you will bring: *
* Four years’ experience in general maintenance trades such as carpentry, plumbing, roofing, electrical, HVAC, and/or other related trade.
Sufficient skill and experience to qualify as a journey-level worker in two or more of the trades.
This may include time spent as an apprentice or in vocational training or a combination of equivalent education and relevant experience.
* Full working knowledge of maintenance and craft procedures and practices in at least two of the trades.
* Demonstrated ability to install, maintain, and repair a wide variety of complex fixtures and diagnose routine and non-routine issues and perform on specialized installations such as experimental hutches and accelerator housing’s infrastructure.
* Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and sketches.
* Must be skilled in the use of the tools, material, and equipment required to perform assigned duties.
* Demonstrated ability to estimate materials and time required for completion of a job, and to maintain adequate records and supplies of materials.
* Demonstrated ability to perform complex carpentry duties.
* Demonstrated ability to perform complex plumbing related welding, and brazing.
* Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
Provide guidance and support to other technicians and be able to work in a diverse collaborative environment.
* Must have demonstrated ability to schedule and prioritize own work.
* Must be able to adhere to site environmental and safety rules, regulations, and requirements.
* Knowledge of all applicable federal, state DOE, OSHA rules and regulations
* Certifications and Licenses:
* Must possess and maintain a valid California Non-commercial Class license.
