*General Statement of Duties:*
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for championing quality assurance throughout the organization.
They use fundamentals in food/cereal science, food microbiology, training and process engineering to efficiently produce safe, high quality products.
The Quality Assurance Manager works directly with the owners, Plant Manager, Maintenance Team, Purchasing Department, Manufacturing Staff, Vendors and Customers.
They are responsible for communication of food safety and quality standards to suppliers, and plant personnel through training, corrective actions, audits, and continual monitoring.
This role reports to the CEO of Giusto’s Specialty Foods.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Manage Giusto’s Food Safety & Quality Manual (FSQM) through HACCP principles, GMP principles, established pre-requisite programs, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
* Develop and execute effective training programs for new and current employees in accordance to the FSQM.
* Host customer and third party audits (FDA, SQF, QAI, AIB, Kosher, etc.
) and ensure identified corrective actions are executed.
* Document customer complaints and respond with appropriate conclusions based on relevant data.
* Responsible for the analysis of new and modified regulations, directives and notices with respect to food processing (i.
e.
FSMA updates, Organic Regulations, etc.
).
* Communicate with senior management and staff, consistently and regularly, to continuously improve Giusto’s food safety and quality culture.
* Collect and analyze data to improve product specifications and create certificates of analysis.
* Perform internal audits, identify root causes and corrective actions, and verify completion of corrective actions.
*Essential Requirements:*
* Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, or related scientific field.
* Minimum of 3 years Quality Assurance in a food manufacturing leadership role.
* Experience in a Food Production Management role
* Proven knowledge of Organic and Allergen Quality process.
* HACCP certified and in-depth knowledge of food safety principles including GMPs, Certifications etc.
- PCQI Certified, a plus
* SQF Practitioner certification a plus.
* Proven effective management, communication and motivational skills.
* Energetic, self-motivated and a keen ability to prioritize and act with urgency, efficacy, and efficiency.
* Computer skills, such as Databases, Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel.
* Must be able to work in a facility with major food allergens (wheat, soy, milk, egg).
