Responsibilities Mainspring Energy is at the forefront of developing cutting edge products and is looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer with significant experience in creating, developing and setting-up new product and manufacturing processes.
You will be part of the New Product Introduction (NPI) Team and work under the guidance of experienced manufacturing engineering leaders, all focused to transition our breakthrough new technology into volume manufacturing and ramp production.
You will closely collaborate with engineering teams in developing easily manufacturable products at our R&D and Pilot production facilities in Menlo Park and collaborate with our CM (Contract Manufacturing) partners to develop volume manufacturing processes.
You will design manufacturing processes to deliver quality and efficient production yield; which includes DFM/DFX projects, technical specification and developing validation procedures.
You will work on big picture objectives and pay attention to details to identify assembly tools and fixtures requirements.
Your critical contribution will be rewarding and directly enable Mainspring’s aggressive growth targets.
Key activities will include the following: Plan, propose and lead experiments to produce timely and accurate analysis used to drive detailed process steps and optimize line balance Provide design for manufacturing (DFM) feedback to product design engineers Collect and document product and process requirement to feed equipment and tooling design and also define the process readiness for automation introduction Capacity simulation and modeling Collaborate with suppliers and Engineering teams in developing the manufacturing and test processes , including process flows, equipment/fixture concept designs, implementation schedules and validation plans Utilize DOE, PFMEA and other industry-standard tools and techniques to actively identify and address risks and optimize process parameters Assess the sustainability of a fabrication technology for a given part design, plan validation experiments to demonstrate initial feasibility as well as manufacturing capabilities.
Analyze the result and provide technical recommendations Review progress of development activities at supplier locations and serve as a point of partner concern for critical process related issues Develop robust processes for failure analysis and drive continuous improvement Qualifications BS/MS Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent 4+ years of experience on process planning, development and in new product launch role Direct hands-on experience going through at least 1 complete cycle from new product introduction to manufacturing process set-up, starting and optimizing production Deep understanding of Mechanical Engineering, GD&T, Failure Analysis, DOE,SPC and statistical Analysis Proficient using Solidworks as main 2D/3D CAD design tool to generate assembly and individual part models Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational and prioritization skills Well organized with meticulous attention to details Willing and able to travel internationally up to 20% The Bay Area salary for this role is $90k-$135k base + pre-IPO stock options + benefits.
This position is on-site in Menlo Park, CA.
The salary will be adjusted based on the experience of the employee.
