Responsibilities Mainspring is hiring a Senior Mechanical Materials Buyer Planner, In this role you will excel at managing suppliers from RFQ to PO as well as contracts , parts information , quality checks and payment.
In this role you will utilize your organization and communicative skills.
You will be hands-on and will thrive in a nimble fast-paced environment that involves regular shop floor engagement and constant cross functional engagement with production, NPI, engineering, logistics, material handling and suppliers.
Forecast and plan purchasing needs from lead times and inventory, with input on business risks and use-of-capital Set up and manage safety stock levels and optimize material replenishment schedules Manage planning system parameters and system data to optimize inventory levels Provide data-driven status updates to support abnormality management Manage all phases of the procure-to-pay process, including administering competitive RFQs, gaining approvals, tracking the progress of POs, and shipping Support cost reduction activities, pursuing reductions where possible Build and manage effective supplier relationships and act as the primary interface with suppliers on delivery status, issues, and problem resolution Manage the transition of new products into production volume manufacturing partners Communicate proactively with Production, Material Handling, and Engineers about order status and schedule challenges, and manage change orders, rush-requests, and returns, as necessary Follow through to ensure on-time delivery to support revenue/shipment plan Partner with IT and other business stakeholders on Planning processes and system improvements Drive cost reduction through competitive bidding, sourcing new suppliers, DFM, Cost Modeling & Should cost analysis Qualifications Knowledge of Mechanical components / Mfg technologies (Casting, Forging, Stamping, CNC Machining, Welding, Assembly, tooling, Sheet Metal) At least 5 years of experience in production control, material demand planning, or supply chain management environment Independent, excellent communicator, and collaborator with Engineering, Quality, Program Management, and Manufacturing Detail-oriented with thorough analytical capabilities including the ability to solve problems with minimal supervision Proficient with Excel and Google Workspace suite.
Experience with ERP packages Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management or similar discipline The Bay Area salary for this role is $80k-$115k base + pre-IPO stock options + benefits.
This position is on-site in Menlo Park, CA.
The salary will be adjusted based on the experience of the employee.
