Role Summary: The Rivian Battery Supply Chain team is looking for highly motivated and exceptional Purchasing professionals to bring Rivian's engineered products to life.
In this role, the Lead Global Supply Manager will be responsible for sourcing and managing components that make up the building blocks of the Cell/Battery for Rivian programs.
As a Global Supply Manager, you will be responsible for all commercial and strategic aspects of the awarding of new business, developing strong supplier relationships, and working side by side with our engineering counterparts to push the envelope of our technical requirements.
You will also take the lead in making sure Rivian can meet its cost targets, suppliers deliver to our aggressive timelines, and parts are received at the highest level of quality.
In our team, we expect our people to own every aspect of the strategic sourcing process from start to finish and everything in between.
This opening is located at our Irvine, CA facility and reports directly to the Group Manager of the Battery Cell Purchasing team within the Battery Materials GSM Team of Supply Chain Organization.
Responsibilities: Define the procurement strategy for your commodity Lead RFI/ RFQ/ RFP and strategic sourcing process Develop sourcing strategies by analyzing the supply base, market conditions, and technology roadmaps Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers on NDA's, General Terms & Conditions and Production Supply Agreements Identify potential suppliers, analyze capabilities and develop a sourcing strategy and roadmap for Rivian stakeholders Perform detailed analysis of quote submissions based on cost breakdown form data Drive and implement cost reductions on prototype and production vehicles through leveraged negotiations to achieve vehicle cost targets Manage supplier relationships and performance through key performance metrics Work closely alongside cell manufacturing engineering to understand and support their requirements.
Review Engineering, Design & Development (ED&D) costs with Engineering leads to ensure best-in-class cost is attained Work closely alongside Program Management to support prototype requirements, execute against build milestones and track sourcing progress Support Supplier Quality plant audits and technical reviews Develop should-cost models and industry analysis of various battery commodity related materials Qualifications: BA / BS degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Battery Cell engineering, or related field 5 years of experience in global supply management, including strategic sourcing, contract negotiation and supplier management in battery, automotive, consumer electronics or related industry 3 years of experience sourcing Battery related materials/components Strong knowledge of pricing models and industry trends, industry regulations, and best practices Demonstrated ability to identify process issues and drive improvements; good knowledge and experience with SAP or other ERPS systems Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills Highly organized and demonstrated ability as a strategic thinker.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects, develop effective plans, coordinate change management, and see projects through to conclusion Pay Disclosure: Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $150,000-$188,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
