The Supervisor - Facilities Engineering directs and supervises the activities of the engineers and service contractors in the maintenance of the buildings, grounds and related fixed and portable equipment, minor construction, and equipment installation.
Essential Functions The essential functions listed are typical examples of work performed by positions in this job classification.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.
Responsible for proper function of building equipment, oversees inspection, testing, and maintenance activities in accordance with regulations, and coordinates vendor-based maintenance and repairs.
Performs building inspections at consistent intervals to monitor overall condition of the facility to direct engineers for corrective action as needed.
Uses enterprise asset management application to supervise completion of work orders and adherence to regulatory compliance and department standards including the following: ¿Monitors staff productivity at consistent intervals as required by Manager for action.
¿Maintains required records, gathers statistics to perform root cause analysis and resolution for corrective work orders, and prepares regulatory reports as required.
¿Maintains inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment.
Submits requisitions for replacement items and approves invoices.
¿Audits/evaluates customer feedback and staff work order communication regarding department standards, staff performance, repeat work orders, and work order handoff.
Appropriately schedules staff to meet the needs of the organization, maintain budget, and in accordance with policies and procedures.
Facilitates construction, maintenance, and service outages including Utility Shutdown Requests (USRs), impact review, countermeasure development, communication, and staff coordination.
Performs facility rounds at consistent intervals to monitor, observe, and counsel for immediate correction of engineer performance.
Reports findings to Manager to collaborate on correction of deficiencies as needed.
Supervises service contractor work and collaborates with hospital departments for services with shared responsibility.
Trains staff in technical procedures within their area of expertise.
Manages and schedules training time for staff and performs on-the-job training as needed.
Develops staff work habits, attitudes, attendance, and future growth.
Fosters communication between shifts, trades, and intradepartmental staff.
Holds staff meetings/huddles at consistent intervals to support Manager with implementation of department and hospital practices and policies.
Identifies opportunities for improvement regarding department workflows and effects changes to improve quality and efficiency of services.
Performs supervisory functions by interviewing, selecting, and providing training for new staff; by evaluation of subordinates¿ performance; by hearing and resolving employee concerns; and by determining the need for and initiating disciplinary action in order to ensure adequate and competent staffing for the agency, program, division, or institution.
Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Associate's Degree (or trade school equivalent) in work related field.
Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible directly related work experience.
License/Certification: CA Driver¿s License -AND- State of California Department of Industrial Relations Certified General Electrician -OR- OSFM fire pump certification -OR- NFPA70E certification (CEST and/or CESW) ¿OR- NFPA 110 OR 111 certification (CEPSS and/or CEPSS-HC) -OR- EPA 608 certification (type I, II, III, IV, or universal) -OR- ASSE 6040 and/or 6005, 6010, 6030 certifications Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or licensure/certification.
