The Assistant Manager Facilities Operations is responsible for assisting the Manager in planning, organizing and supervising assigned activities of the Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) Department and services functions, which are necessary in maintaining the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utilities and grounds of the hospital in an operative and safe working condition.
This position helps plan and maintain an effective organization by administering labor and material controls, safety training of maintenance personnel in operations and maintenance of all buildings, structures, and equipment.
Oversees finished trade and exterior equipment/grounds maintenance, fleet management, inventory process, procedure development process, existing employee core competencies, and new employee onboarding.

Oversees the day-to-day operations of the maintenance programs for finished trades and exterior equipment/grounds.
Reviews tasks, schedules staff according to demands and budget allocation, sets priorities and revises workflow to effectively facilitate customer and departmental needs.
Assists in the strategic assessment of the effectiveness of current programs in achieving organization objectives and predictive/preventive engineering maintenance programs to ensure the uninterrupted operations of the hospital.
Identifies best practices and benchmarks and develops recommendations for modifications to assure maximum effectiveness of hospital operations.
In collaboration with the Manager, designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives.
Recruits, employs, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff ensuring continuing education in the repair and maintenance of all equipment.
Oversees the design and implementation of maintenance projects, initiatives, and services that are responsive to needs and objectives of the institution.
Creates standard structure for work schedules and job assignments.
Places orders for materials, supplies, and parts.
Recommends use of outside specialty contractors as necessary.
Effectively manages and collaborates with vendors and external partners, including managing performance of contracts to ensure maximum values of services is delivered.
Responsible for following programs: fleet management, inventory process, procedure development process, new employee onboarding, and existing employee core competencies.
Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational issues.
Reports daily to the Manager regarding the physical and structural conditions of hospital facilities and the status of work in progress.
Resolves escalated issues arising from operational huddles.
In collaboration with the manager, determines and implements metrics that assess and monitor the effectiveness of ongoing programs, new initiatives, and other key department metrics.
Makes recommendations regarding departmental annual goals.
Participates in the development and applications of standards of quality and productivity for the E&M Department.
Supervises and instructs E&M Department personnel in the use of policies, procedures, and standards of work performance for maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings, and building systems.
Recommends operating policies and establishes procedures for team.
Instructs personnel regarding hazards and safety to ensure safe procedures and safe use of equipment.
Ensures staff work is compliant with all safety codes, building codes and operating process.
Ensures accountability to regularity compliance programs.
Assists in scheduling inspections, testing, and maintenance repair work, alterations, remodeling, and minor construction of equipment and building systems.
Acts in an advisory role to business unit staff and leaders.
Identifies and resolves technical, operational, and organizational problems considering multiple sources of information to identify the best course of action.
Performs root cause analysis on equipment and/or process failures.
May oversee/manage E&M department operations as assigned by Manager.
Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Bachelors degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience, with at least one year operating in a leadership, project management, or program specialist role.
