JOB SUMMARY
This position is under the direction of the Building Official, supervise, evaluate, train and coordinate the work of building inspectors performing inspection work in all phases of construction, alteration, and repair for compliance to approve plans, specifications, and state and local codes; to perform the more difficult or problem inspections; and to perform related work.
We only consider candidates living locally or within the State of CA.
We do not pay any relocation expenses.
RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises, assigns, and lays out the work of construction inspectors engaged in the inspection of residential, commercial, industrial and other buildings for conformance to Building Code and other related.
Makes field inspections when difficult enforcement or public relations problems arise or as directed by the Building Official.
Checks methods of construction and quality of materials at building sites.
Investigates and resolves complaints.
Recommends changes in procedures and work methods related to enforcement of building codes.
Trains, instructs, and evaluates inspectors in the proper procedures and techniques of inspection and the application and interpretation of Code provisions and departmental policies.
Provides plan checking services for compliance with applicable codes for minor projects, including, but not limited to, residential additions and accessory structures, and commercial, industrial tenant improvements.
Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS Possess an International Code Council (ICC) Certification as a Combination Building Inspector – Residential and Commercial.
Possess an International Code Council (ICC) Certification as a Residential Plans Examiner or ICC Commercial Building Examiner.
All licenses and certificates must be maintained as a condition of employment.
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in building inspection with a private or public agency.
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in building construction supervising.
Possess a high school diploma or GED.
Possession and maintenance of a valid Class “C” California driver’s license is required.
Excellent verbal and written skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
WORKING CONDITIONS Requires extensive physical exertion during on-site inspections.
Will require physical flexibility & dexterity, including the ability to continually stand, bend, stoop, reach, crouch and climb.
Will drive to job sites and to visit clients.
PAY AND BENEFITS The compensation for this position is $39.
00 to $60.
00 per hour Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
