Posted 22-Nov-2023 Service line GWS Segment Role type Full-time Areas of Interest Engineering/Maintenance Location(s) Menlo Park - California - United States of America ABOUT THE ROLE Primary responsibility will be but not limited to 480 volt and above on campuses in the area.
The Union Stationary Engineer will provide support on medium and high voltage distribution electrical systems including primary switch gear, distribution panels, isolation switches, interrupters, transformers, overhead fused cutouts, system maintenance, and repairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides support for medium and high voltage overhead and underground electrical circuits.
Inspects distribution systems, documents findings, and provides recommendations.
Provides support for capital and in house projects with installation, repairs, commissioning, testing, and inspecting of finished work.
Maintenance and troubleshooting of electric utility facilities such as transmission, distribution revenue metering, testing, maintenance and repair and does related work as required.
Performing journey level electrical work and locating and diagnosing trouble, and installation in electrical systems or components.
Switching sequencing and power outage coordination involving different kinds of switch gear, breakers, and circuits such as High Voltage controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), contacts, wiring, ladder logic diagrams, governors and governor controls, and High voltage system relays, up to 60kV voltage levels.
Test, calibrate, maintain and repair distribution system line equipment such as transformers, capacitors, regulators, reclosers and associated control equipment; test prior to energization and perform fault locating of high-voltage underground cable systems; Substation duties are essential functions of this position.
Maintenance and operation of substation, controls, and power flow.
Prepare and deliver job service reports, deficiency reports, and properly complete work orders.
Answer emergency calls during and outside of normal working hours, evaluates emergency problems, performs troubleshooting of electrical equipment.
Provide additional support to 600 volt and below electrician for troubleshooting, repairs and installation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position.
May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to coworkers.
May coordinate work and assign tasks.

Experience in high voltage electrical; operation, maintenance and basic repair of HVAC/R, boilers, heaters, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, water systems, etc.
Knowledgeable in energy management systems, techniques, and operations.
Detailed knowledge in all building systems operations, maintenance, and repair.
Appropriate license/permit for trade as may be required Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, company policies and business practices to achieve general results.
Responsible for setting department deadlines.
Errors in judgment may cause long-term impact to co-workers, supervisor, department, and/or line of business.
Basic Computing Skills in Outlook, Excel & Word EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Graduate of apprentice program or trade school preferred 5+ years of related work experience in operating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a commercial property setting Refrigeration experience preferred CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES Universal CFC certification required.
Additional certification in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC/R and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair.
Certifications/licenses as may be required by local or state jurisdictions.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record with periodic checks (where applicable).
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS, and training.
Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook.
Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs.

Work will be de-energized per CBRE policy with the exception of troubleshooting and operational testing.

The salary range is $62 - $64 per hour.
The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience.
