We seek a highly motivated hands-on engineer for a position in the Power Electronics Test Engineering group, a team focused on creating robust, beautiful, data-centric production testing equipment for Tesla’s power electronics components.
This team concentrates on mechanical, electrical, software, and controls of dense and reliable capital equipment for our production lines around the world.

What You’ll Do
Design high-level and detailed-level automation equipment in CAD
Perform solid mechanics, heat and mass, and fluid mechanics calculations; verify validity of designs and calculations using Thermal and Structural FEA, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analyses
Layout pneumatic schematics using AutoCAD Electrical
Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits
Establish clear, concise test plans, and control test plan execution with the focus on test time reduction and simplicity to promptly release equipment
Host, and actively contribute to design review meetings
Interact with various design, manufacturing, sustaining, and firmware teams throughout project
Support build, debug, validate, and fine-tune equipment for release to production
Establish great working relationships with vendors and managing their deliverables
Perform on-site and off-site acceptance testing (SAT/FAT) of test equipment
What You’ll Bring
Demonstrated excellence in an engineering role in either Product Development, Equipment/Machine Design, Manufacturing, or Testing environments
Hands-on skills with diagnostics software, hardware, tools, instruments, general electromechanical/mechatronic systems and measurement techniques
Versed in SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD software; basics with AutoCAD is a plus
Fundamental understanding of pneumatics or hydraulics
Knowledge of various part fabrication techniques (machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, etching, injection molding, 3D printing, hydroforming)
2+ years of experience
Preference for candidates with a portfolio showcasing various professional and personal projects (FSAE, BAJA, robotic competitions, and similar)
Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production desired
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent
