What to Expect
The Tesla Robotics Team designs and builds humanoid bi-pedal robots (Tesla Bot) to perform tasks that are boring, repetitive, and dangerous for humans.
The team joins mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and manufacturing engineering disciplines in a highly collaborative team.
As a Mechanical Component Design Engineer for the Tesla-bot program you will be responsible for developing novel concepts for power and communication transfer within the Tesla Bot.
The technologies you create will be the building blocks for electrical distribution for the worlds first mass production bi-pedal humanoid robot.
What You’ll Do
Develop novel power and communication distribution components such as interconnects and busbars
Research alternative harnessing techniques such as FFC, FPC, ribbon and other cabling strategies to develop innovative and unique solutions for automation on a large scale
Simulate, prototype and test concepts for high lifespan and high cycle count dynamic harness components
Engineering responsibility across all stages of product development, collaborating with suppliers, Tesla SIE's/GSM's, overseeing prototyping, and managing RC, Beta, and Pilot builds
What You’ll Bring
2-4+ years of relevant experience
BS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
Strong knowledge of materials, fabrication methods for low and high volume
Analytical background for successful design (tolerance stack-ups, solid mechanics, thermal, cost and mass optimization)
Passion for electro-mechanical product design and finding simpler solutions to meet requirements
Ability to present data/trade-offs to facilitate decision making
Experience taking projects from concept to production
CAD experience, 2D and 3D (Catia preferred)
