What to Expect
Tesla’s Vehicle Power Electronics group is looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to drive our high-voltage power semiconductor technology in our drive inverters to the physical limits.
This role requires a strong technical background, a critical-thinking mindset, a passion to launch new technologies, and demonstrated ability to execute quickly and effectively.
What You’ll Do
Drive design and qualification efforts with external suppliers and internal teams to take the vehicle drive inverter’s high-voltage packaged semiconductor components from concept to mass production
Mechanical design analysis including structural, thermal, design for manufacturing, and design for test
Solve electronics packaging issues including electrical isolation, thermal management, interconnection, shock and vibration management
Develop validation plans and evaluate whether new designs are passing
Create drawing packages and manufacturing instructions for parts
Assist in engineering prototype builds and component fabrication
What You’ll Bring
Bahelor's or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, and 6+ years’ industry experience
Deep understanding of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals, with significant experience designing and building mechanical parts
Material science knowledge of materials used in electronics packaging
Proficiency using 3D mechanical design and analysis tools (e.
g.
CATIA, COMSOL, ANSYS Icepak, StarCCM)
Knowledge of design for reliability and design for manufacturability concepts
Basic understanding of electrical design fundamentals, ideally familiar with high-voltage design
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
