As the manager for the Electrical Engineering team, you will lead the design, manufacturing, and testing of subsystems within Blackfly’s avionics and electronics.

Responsibilities
Manage multiple electronic assembly projects on aircraft throughout the design lifecycle.
Explore architectural changes to existing designs.
Create efficient production testing solutions for electronic assemblies.
Design and coordinate design validation testing for electronics and sensors.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to electrical engineers.
Perform root cause analysis and implement fixes for yield, performance, and reliability improvements.
Iterate on existing designs and develop innovative solutions.
Develop hardware and firmware for power, propulsion, sensor, and control systems projects.
Lead and coordinate the electrical engineering team.
Allocate resources and manage project budgets.
Collaborate with other engineering teams for integration and synergy.
Identify and mitigate project risks.
Communicate with stakeholders about project progress and outcomes.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or a related field) with a minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience.
Prior management experience, leading and supervising teams.
Extensive experience with PCB layout and schematic capture.
Proficiency in working with common communication protocols like SPI, UART, and CAN.
Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design concepts.
Proficiency in troubleshooting circuits using appropriate lab tools.
Proficiency in troubleshooting firmware (C/C++) with the appropriate environment.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Project management experience and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to electronics and electrical engineering.

Experience with aviation electronics standards, architecture and processes
Experience taking at least one product through the entire development process
Experience with data analysis/aggregation using python or MATLAB

Low and high voltage power electronics design
EMI/EMC compliance
DFMEA, reliability metrics
Prototype and medium volume manufacturing
GPS or UAV sensors

Salary Range
The salary range for this role is reflected in Opener's Pay Structure - Pay Bands (PB) 15-19.
