What to Expect
Tesla’s Drive Systems Engineering (DSE) group is seeking a skilled and highly motivated manufacturing engineer that is knowledgeable in gear manufacturing and quality assurance inspection to be a leader in the DSE Gear Lab initiative.
This is an opportunity to be an integral part of a specialized team within Tesla’s Drive Systems research efforts to produce the world’s best electric propulsion systems.
As a manufacturing engineer within the DSE Gear Lab, we look to you to help develop process standards and operate specialized inspection equipment to meet design engineering objectives.
You will regularly collaborate with the Drive Systems Geartrain design team, Materials Engineering team, and broader Prototype Machine Shop staff to produce high quality drive systems components at the front line of engineering development.
The selected candidate will be expected to offer insight into design for manufacturing improvements, and broadcast learnings from initial prototype samples across Tesla’s global network of factories and gear suppliers as these products move into production.
This position will be stationed within Tesla’s greater Prototype Machine Shop, a fast-paced and dynamic environment which works to serve engineering initiatives across the entire organization, including pre-production vehicles, energy systems, artificial intelligence, and other future-shaping products.
Working alongside the Prototype Machine Shop team, opportunities to assist in these adjacent efforts will be present.
Our world-class team looks forward to working with you on this exciting initiative!
What You’ll Do
Establish efficient workflow for prototype gear inspection across all stages of manufacturing at DSE Gear Lab
Generate standardized documentation and inspection reports for clear communication with stakeholders
Coordinate commonization of gear inspection practices at global Tesla facilities and production vendors by reviewing processes and developing inspection machine programs.
Some travelling required
Troubleshoot global Tesla gear production quality investigations using Gear Lab resources
