What to Expect
We are looking for a skilled Service Technical Writer with a passion for robotics and a strong background in technical communication to join our team.
The Service Technical Writer will be responsible for creating comprehensive and user-friendly documentation for our robotic systems, including service manuals, troubleshooting guides, maintenance procedures, and training materials.
The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to translate complex technical information into clear and concise documentation that meets the needs of our customers and service technicians.
What You’ll Do Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and customer support, to gather information and insights on robotic systems and their service requirements Develop and maintain service manuals, technical bulletins, and other documentation for our robotic products, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and clarity Create troubleshooting guides and diagnostic procedures to assist service technicians in identifying and resolving issues with robotic systems efficiently Produce instructional materials and training modules for service technicians, covering topics such as installation, maintenance, and repair procedures Work closely with subject matter experts to validate technical content and incorporate feedback into documentation revisions Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to robotics and technical writing Participate in product testing and validation activities to gain hands-on experience with robotic systems and identify opportunities for documentation improvements Continuously evaluate and enhance documentation processes, tools, and templates to optimize efficiency and effectiveness What You’ll Bring Bachelor's Degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent Proven experience as a technical writer, preferably in the robotics or automation industry Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively Familiarity with technical documentation tools and software, such as Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, or similar platforms Knowledge of robotic systems, including mechanical, electrical, and software components, and their service requirements Experience with structured authoring and documentation standards, such as DITA or XML, is a plus Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment Detail-oriented and self-motivated, with a passion for learning and continuous improvement Prior experience in service or support roles for complex technical products is desirable Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Aetna PPO and HSA plans > 2 medical plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Account) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High Deductible Aetna medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) LGBTQ+ care concierge services 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D, short-term and long-term disability insurance Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program Expected Compensation $60,000 - $222,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
