Our IFF team in Palo Alto, located at the Genencor Technology & Innovation Center, have been pioneers in the industrial biotechnology field for over 40 years.
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our Process Development team.
In this role, you will be working with a group of scientists and engineers in our state-of-the-art research & development facility.
This team is responsible for the fast-paced and hands-on development of biological products including enzymes, proteins, and microbes across a range of businesses.
You will have exposure to all stages of process development: from discovery to manufacturing technology transfer.
Job Requirements
Identifying, developing, and implementing new value-creating technologies, products, and processes to address business challenges and opportunities.
Establishing an internal reputation as a subject matter expert in formulations and working independently and seeking increased responsibility with consistent productivity.
Providing technical oversight to others and demonstrating the scientific method and/or engineering design process and statistics to advance project goals.
Working collaboratively with process technicians, engineers, scientists, and global supply teams to resolve technical challenges, transfer new processes to manufacturing, and support through to successful commercialization.
Hands-on collaborative work in the laboratory and pilot plant.
Preparation and presentation of technical reports, data summaries, protocols, and other technical and regulatory documentation.
Leading specific technical segments and taking the initiative to assume responsibility for highly challenging technical projects achieving solutions to complex problems.
Contributing to the development of formulations through preparation, characterization, and testing the chemical, physical, and biological characteristics of our products; including, implementing new analytical and characterization techniques.
Utilizing meaningful literature searches and market knowledge to form hypotheses and selecting and recommending approaches to projects to solve diverse and poorly-defined problems to address new and existing challenges.
Requirements:
Training: Biochemistry, Biochemical or Chemical Engineering or related field
PHD with 3-8 years hands-on experience
BS/MS with 10-15 years of experience
Expertise in biochemistry and/or biochemical engineering with strong focus on applied research
Understanding of large molecule failure modes and
Experience developing and validating assays and exposure to automation is preferred.
Experience in physical, bioactive, chemical, and morphological characterization techniques is ideal
Comfortable with process development or engineering including at pilot and production scale
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
Team player and self-starter with good organizational skills
Some travel required
Compensation ($117,120 - 131,700) is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
