Petersen Precision Engineering is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer.
The ideal candidate will have a good understanding & knowledge of the manufacturing process.
Experience working in the metal manufacturing industry would be preferred.
*Responsibilities:*
· Developing and improving manufacturing processes for both increase part quality and operational productivity.
· Provide engineering support to all departments for all processes that require documented processes, tooling, fixtures, or general process development.
· Evaluate existing manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of the process technology, product design, tooling, and materials.
· Learn and become a process expert for critical manufacturing technologies such as creep feed grinding, fine blank stamping, CNC machining, lapping, etc.
* Provide daily production support by taking a hands-on approach by working with operators and troubleshooting machines, fixtures, and processes.
* Improve the manufacturability of new products by applying DFM (Design for Manufacturing) principles to all new products, working directly with customers to assist in new part development.
* Work with internal cross-functional teams to ensure processes and products are optimized for manufacturability, cost, and efficiency.
* Participate in material review, quote meetings, engineering design meetings, etc.
*Requirements:*
* Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, Operators, customers & vendors.
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written English.
Spanish language speaking a plus.
* Some knowledge and understanding of industry standards for precision metal working processes (i.
e.
machining, grinding, EDM, heat treating, etc.
.
).
* Develop manufacturing processes including work instructions, manufacturing drawings, process layouts, fixture designs, etc.
* Good knowledge of material properties, heat treatment, chemical coating, and surface finish
* Knowledge of GD&T and drafting practices preferred.
* Understanding of revision control and design process.
* General knowledge of CNC machine shop processes a plus.
* Knowledge of ISO/AS quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100), Experience in ISO13485 process validation as plus.
*Education & Experience:*
* Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
* 5 years of work experience in a similar role in manufacturing industry.
