Pulmonx is looking for a Director of Supply Chain to join and lead our team at our offices in Redwood City, CA.
This role will be responsible for providing planning strategy and operational discipline to the Supply Chain organization while also implementing process improvements and managing overall performance.
We're looking for an experienced people-leader who also likes to be hands-on within their function with duties such as:
Commodity Management / Strategic Supplier Selection and Management
Manage suppliers to ensure highest quality and best pricing
Lead negotiation and implementation of supply agreements in critical commodities
Represent Supply Chain function on R&D and outsource project teams with planning and strategy
Provide input and oversight to Materials Team on part phase-in/phase-out situations to minimize shortages and scrap
Distribution / Logistics Strategy
Ensure most optimal levels of inventory at all locations worldwide.
Establish and achieve inventory targets for raw materials and finished goods balancing the needs of supply continuity, inventory turns and excess and obsolescence.
Manage relationships with 3rd party and other logistics suppliers to minimize cost and ensure highest performance.
Optimize field inventory levels by working directly with Sales and Customer Service.
Devising strategy for new distribution networks (i.
e.
, US Cold Chain, Asia)
Material Requirements / Production Planning
Drive the planning behind procurement of direct materials to meet build requirements
Work with Materials and Manufacturing on most appropriate build and procurement schedules
Implement and manage automated planning and tools to assist buyers
Material Costing
Provide input and oversight to quarterly and annual standard cost updates.
Lead make vs buy analyses with a goal to ensure optimal scalability and total cost.
Support setting and implementing cost reduction goals.
Supply Chain Management General
Hire, train, lead and develop managers and supervisors to assist in fulfilling mission of department.
Develop and maintain departmental budgets; contribute to the development of strategic and annual operating plans.
Implement or recommend tools or process improvements to assist with streamlining workflow in direct material procurement
Enhance current trackers and metrics to use in Sales & Operations Planning.
Track and report on departmental metrics
Represent Supply Chain on ERP strategy meetings
Represent Supply Chain function to financial and quality system audit teams
Perform duties in support of financial controls (SOX)
Proactively support company goals and objectives, policies and procedures, GMP ISO, and FDA regulations.
This role will require some domestic and international travel (less than 20%).
Requirements:
Bachelors’ degree required; Master’s degree preferred
10+ years supply chain, operations or manufacturing planning experience in a medical device production environment required.
4+ years’ experience in managing direct reports.
5+ years using ERP systems in planning, distribution/logistics, supplier management, and purchasing.
Order fulfillment ERP familiarity a plus.
Experience working with suppliers in most commodities and services procured at Pulmonx.
Supplier negotiation and contract experience required
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively
Compensation: $180,000 - $220,000/year depending on experience
