Job Title: Sr Specialist / Associate Programs Manager, Buildings Electrification
Salary: $105,000 - $140,000 (commensurate with experience)
Job Type: FT with Benefits
Location: California residence required.
PCE is a remote-first work environment with a preference to hire staff within a 100-mile radius of San Mateo County.
Employees are expected to attend in-person meetings (generally monthly/quarterly) at our Redwood City office.
Other meetings may be required.
POSITION SUMMARY This is an exciting opportunity to join PCE’s team in a new department as we expand and deepen clean energy services to our ratepayers across the County of San Mateo.
This new role on the Building Electrification team works under the direction of the Building Electrification Programs Manager and is responsible for supporting the implementation of PCE programs.
This is an exciting opportunity to support innovation and greenhouse gas reductions.
This person will play a role supporting innovative programs which encourage building electrification.
Specific responsibilities may include: providing guidance to individual PCE residential and commercial customers on cost-effective electrification of homes and buildings; recommending electric water heating, space, heating, pool heating, cooking, and clothes dryers; researching building electrification systems; reviewing government building electrification grant proposals; recommending “right-sized” battery backup systems; outreach and engagement with customers, managing operations, and addressing customer needs as they arise.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES The primary role of this new hire will be to act as a building electrification “concierge,” helping customers on their home and business electrification journeys.
Specialist will coordinate directly with customers and recommend electrification technologies, and answer questions related to building electrification.
This position requires collaboration skills to work with internal and external stakeholders.
It also requires an understanding of technical aspects of building systems and appliances.
The ideal candidate would have familiarity with design and construction practices.
We are looking for someone who is highly organized, has strong attention to detail, and able to support activities across multiple projects.
Examples of Duties: Perform “concierge” role, assisting customers on their building electrification journey Develop reusable toolsets for analysis of building and customer needs and recommendations on installations, rate selection, operating costs, load shapes, systems configurations, etc.
Develop templates to standardize documentation of building conditions and recommendation presentation Assist Programs Manager to establish standards for evaluation and recommendations, approach to incorporate innovative methods and technologies, and create data systems for automation of analytics Provide quality technical guidance on building electrification Provide guidance on technology selection, product sizing and selection, electric rate selection, and other implementation considerations based on existing conditions and customer goals Providing customers with ballpark pricing with 30% +/- accuracy Referral to PCE turnkey services Coordinating with other team members on recommendations for rooftop solar or EV charging Work with Building Electrification Programs Manager to provide concise, visually-compelling, easy-to-understand, electrification plans for the home.
Plans will be customer-facing, with knowledge they will be used to communicate with contractors during home sale or at a later date.
Tracking and documenting customer engagement information in CRM Recommending program improvements including changes to contracts, incentives, eligibility or business processes.
Reporting on program metrics including contractor payments and analysis of installation costs in a range of scenarios.
Developing materials for use in internal and external presentations and meetings.
Assist in the design and implementation of customer recruitment strategies for various programs Assisting in preparing draft collateral and website copy and working with marketing to implement materials.
Forming relationships with contractors and labor unions in the ecosystem Directing and coordinating technical assistance consultants, program partners, and hired vendors to ensure overall program effectiveness, tracking budget, goals, and implementing process improvements.
Executing per program objectives and schedules, including tracking budget CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Experience/Education: 3-5+ years of experience in the building design or construction sectors Equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree with coursework in architectural engineering, engineering, construction management, another related technical/scientific field; or 4 years of experience under a licensed contractor installing electrical HVAC, plumbing, systems Knowledge of: Principles of building systems, and in particular all-electric technologies.
Knowledge and experience in any of these areas is a plus: solar systems, energy storage, electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, demand response programs, energy efficiency, and other innovative energy technologies.

Licenses/Certificates: Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) or contractor licensed preferred, but not required.
Possession and continued maintenance of a valid class C California driver's license or the ability to provide alternate transportation as approved by the CEO and a safe driving record.
