, a leading manufacturer of power transformers and mobile transformers & substations has immediate openings for Machine Operators.
Full Time, Hourly Position
Candidates must be able to learn to:
Assist higher level machine operators to:
Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools or attachments.
Operation of saws and other equipment.
Use overhead crane with minimal assistance.
Under the supervision of a higher level operator:
Plan and perform shearing and break press operations.
Plan and perform punching - set up and operate punch.
Lay out work from blueprints, sketches, specifications or samples.
Sharpen tools, as needed.
Drilling, tapping reaming, counter boring, countersinking, spot facing, grinding and sawing on a variety of castings, ferrous and non-ferrous metal forgings and a variety of sheet metal, bar stock and rods.
Assist to detect and report faulty material, equipment, documentation or unusual conditions.
Assist in training and inspecting work within department.
Assist with preventive maintenance inspections.
Complete all necessary DIRs.
Requirements:
At least 1 or more years related manufacturing experience and/or training in the field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possess a general knowledge of and operate with little supervision, basic hand and power tools, milling machines, and all drill presses, grinders, buffers, saws.
Experience in a fast-paced, production/manufacturing environment.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
Using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to interpret blueprints.
Ability to follow all safety practices.
Ability to maintain high standards of Quality & Production
Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions.
Able to regularly lift and move up to 60 lbs.
with no assistance.
Able to work at heights up to 15'.
Ability to climb a ladder and work at heights above 4 feet.
Able to work in all types of environmental conditions including heat, cold, dust, oil and vapor.
Willing and able to work overtime as required.
Must have a positive attitude, team player, work well with others and looks for solutions instead of problems.
This is a union position, per union contract.
