We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Automation Engineer to support our current automation platform and drive process changes that will enable scaling out our DNA manufacturing pipeline.

In addition to supporting our current automation platforms and bringing the next generation of lab manufacturing online you will help us establish a strong culture of mutual respect, integrity, and collaboration while working alongside some of Silicon Valley's best scientists and engineers.
Essential Responsibilities:
Support our current automated production platforms and help to prepare for the next phase of Elegen's growth.
Work closely with the Production team to identify and troubleshoot all production hardware and process issues in a timely manner.
Work closely with the process development team to identify and implement production process improvements.
Work with the automation and chemistry development team to deploy new automation platforms and train a user base.
Take ownership of and develop instrument validation and calibration workflows.
Be a leader in continuous improvement and delivery of automation platforms.
Develop and maintain SOPs and work instruction documentation for lab automation systems.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in life sciences or closely aligned Engineering field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience programming and troubleshooting workcell platforms in an assay development, HTS, diagnostics, or manufacturing field as a lab automation scientist or engineer.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to create, and maintain IQ, OQ, PQ protocols and SOPs for lab automation systems.
Working knowledge of at least one high level programming language (C# strongly preferred)
Solid foundational knowledge of laboratory automation schedulers (PAA Overlord a plus).
Extensive experience programming, executing, and troubleshooting workflows using Labcyte Echo, Agilent Bravo, and Tecan Evo/Fluent liquid handlers.
Direct experience with common laboratory automation instruments involved in NGS workflows.
Proven ability to work as a high functioning individual contributor in a matrixed organization.
Proven track record of working closely with PD/PE teams to deliver continuous improvement projects in automation.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Previous startup experience is a plus.
Working knowledge of JIRA and Confluence.
Salary and Benefits:
The annual base salary compensation for this role, if based in California is: $145,000 - $175,000 Compensation may be different in other locations.
Final compensation also includes bonus, equity and benefits.
Specific offer packages are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location.
