This recruitment will be used to fill multiple positions within SFO’s Design & Construction Office.
Job Description Project Manager Opportunities: This recruitment is for one (1) 5504 Project Manager II position to support the Lead Project Manager focusing on Design Management for the West Field Garage 675 Project and one (1) 5504 Project Manager II position to support the Lead Project Manager focusing on Building Systems, Airfield Interfaces, and Stakeholder/Airline Engagement for the Cargo Building 626.
1 Project Both positions will assist in the oversight and management for all aspects from programming, design, construction, activation and closeout of the project.
Applicable Projects/Programs - West Field Redevelopment Program West Field Garage 675 The $279M West Field Garage 675 Project includes (1) a new above-ground multi-level employee structure for 1,110 to 1,400 parking spaces, (2) enclosed elevated walkways to the upgraded West Field AirTrain Station, (3) new signalized intersection, and (4) demolition of existing buildings.
Cargo Building 626.
1 The $192M Cargo Building 720.
1 & GSE Building 742 Project includes (1) a new 120,000 sf multi-tenant cargo facility with landside truck docks and visitor parking and airside ramp improvements, (2) a new 17,000 sf ground service equipment maintenance facility, and (3) demolition of existing buildings.
The existing buildings are at the end of their useful life and need to be replaced to support future terminal expansion projects.
Job Description At the direction of the Lead Project Manager, the 5504 Project Manager II shall be responsible for implementing their assigned project with an Exceptional Project Outcome (EPO).
This includes incorporating the stakeholders’ needs/requirements, maintaining the project cost/schedule, and successfully activating the new or renovated facilities/systems.
The essential functions of this classification include the following, as applicable to the assigned project: Facilitate and coordinate the Contractor collaboration with Stakeholders, including internal Airport departments, airlines, and outside agencies.
Review Change Orders, RFIs, and Submittals and make recommendations for approval.
Review Contractor Progress Payments and make recommendations for approval.
Prepare Commission Packages for review and approval.
Prepare and present project status update presentations at Partnering and other meetings.
Represent the Airport, as required, including, field coordination, meeting attendance, team collaboration, contract administration support, and coordination with the Contractor teams.
Administer the PMSS and Design-Build contracts.
Communicate with the Airport Duty Manager regarding project activities.
Oversee the Contractor coordination with BICE (SFO’s permitting agency) plan review, responses, and inspections.
Elevate lingering project issues to the Program Manager and assist in resolution.
Provide direction to the Project Teams, under the supervision of the lead project manager.
Review, and recommend for submission, Weekly Reports and Monthly Reports.
Act as the primary point of contact for safety and/or property damage incidences and notify Project and D&C Management staff immediately following any incident.
Provide support to Contracts Procurement Section team for bidding, award, and contracting.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or planning plus six years of responsible architectural, engineering or construction management experience, OR A Bachelor's degree in another field plus eight years of responsible experience in a field directly related to the project, OR Ten years of architectural, engineering, or construction management experience in a field directly related to the project, OR California registration as professional engineer or architect.

One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40 hour work week).
Any overtime hours that you work above 40 hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
Desirable Qualifications: As applicable to assigned project: Familiarity with airfield design and construction principles, including airfield operational protocols, aviation planning, and associated infrastructure.
Experience with the design and construction of commercial and industrial facilities, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and special systems.
Experience with developing shell space for tenant improvements by others.
Familiarity with the principles of sustainability and the incorporation of sustainable measures and systems throughout the project lifecycle.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Experience in managing project budgets, cost forecast and schedules.
Experience with Design Build or CM/GC (CMAR) Project Delivery.
Clear understanding of a collaborative & integrated team environment.
