Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of a Lead Painter or Paint Supervisor, incumbent performs various paint functions.
Incumbent receives direct supervision and training in safety regulations, job safety analysis, and capacities and limitations of types of equipment and scaffolding used in painting and cleaning structural steel bridges, and related structures and facilities.
Must attend a minimum of 144 hours of classroom instruction per year on the employee's own time, and successfully pass with a minimum of 70% grade average Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Structural Steel Painter Apprentice exam.
For those who do not have current eligibility (e.
g.
transfer, permissive reinstatement or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
Eligibility for hire is determined by your score and rank on the exam.
If you are new to California State service, you will need to have taken and passed the examination for this classification in order to be hired for this position.
