For almost 20 years, Avid4 Adventure has empowered pre-K- 12th graders with the skills and confidence to paddle, bike, hike, climb and thrive in the outdoors.
Each year we employ hundreds of Seasonal Staff to serve thousands of campers and our Directors and Assistant Directors are an integral part of this success.
Each Camp Leadership Team is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality and efficient programs.
They also provide mentorship and training to our Seasonal Instructors and are responsible for creating a positive, inclusive, and memorable work environment.

We are hiring *Camp Leadership *for the following California programs: * Menlo Park: Director & Assistant Director * Burlingame: Understudy *In this role you will* * Bring the Avid vision to life; ensure our camps are operating at a high quality and that parents, campers and staff have positive experiences at Avid4 Adventure.
* Lead and empower Camp Instructors by providing mentorship, hosting engaging staff meetings and continuing education segments, and fostering a positive, inclusive workplace.
* Complete behind-the-scenes administrative work to include creating camp and staff schedules, uploading pictures, ensuring compliance standards are being upheld, conducting payroll audits, and ensuring logistical accuracy.
* Provide excellent customer service to our campers and parents by addressing problems immediately, communicating clearly and frequently, responding to parent survey feedback, and guiding staff on Avid4 best practices.
* Manage the risk in your program to minimize the number of incidents.
You will participate in incident response and oversee the timely completion of incident reports and first aid forms.
* Fulfill the role of instructor on an as needed basis.
* _Understudy_: Primarily serve as an instructor over the summer and only asked to fill in for Camp Leadership if/when needed.
The Understudy will act as an additional liaison for Camp Leadership, as well as take on additional responsibilities if desired (i.
e.
, admin support on given days each week).

* You are equally comfortable out in the field leading programs and supporting campers and staff as you are behind a laptop completing administrative duties with attention to detail and precision.
* You can speak to multiple audiences with ease, foster meaningful relationships, and inspire everyone around you with our mission.
* You successfully develop and empower your instructors while working with them side by side, being present in the moment, and leaving the weight of work challenges behind you at the end of your day.
*Your Background* * Directors must meet American Camp Association minimum age requirements, i.
e.
, must be 25 years or older by the start of camp season * All Camp Leadership must qualify to drive camp vehicles, i.
e.
, be 21 years or older by the start of camp with a valid driver’s license * Must have demonstrated expertise in at least one of our core sports (paddling, hiking, climbing, mountain biking) * All Camp Directors must possess a Wilderness First Responder (or EMT) and CPR certification by the start of camp * All other Camp Leadership positions must possess a Wilderness First Aid (or WFR/EMT) and CPR certification by the start of camp *Important Details* * _Work Schedule_: Monday - Friday, 40-50 hours a week * _Position Duration:_ All camp leadership (including Understudies) will be required to attend a virtual training May 4 and in person trainings May 11 and 12.
Programs run May through August, and specific start dates vary by program, location and tenure.
* _Compensation:_ Pay is determined based on position, location, additional responsibilities, relevant certifications, and staff tenure.
The weekly starting range for new Camp Leadership are as below: * Day Camp Leadership: $1,242 - $1,437.
50 * Understudy: Instructor rate + 5% hourly bonus; while serving as leadership will be paid at weekly rate of $1,242 * Relevant Certification Bonuses: $125 - $400 per certification (up to $1,000) * Our Interview Process for New Camp Leadership* After you submit an application, here is what you can expect next: * Step 1: Complete a one-way video interview * if you are new to Avid4 Adventure, you will be asked to submit three references (personal and/or professional) * Step 2: Paired interviews with representation from both Programs Team and Talent Acquisition * Final Decision!
