Under the direction of Community Managers, the Community LibrarySenior Librarian will: Assist in oversight of the day-to-day operations of a community library.
Supervise, coach, and mentor an engaged team of staff and ensure that every customer has a positive experience.
Provide excellent customer service and develop innovative, relevant community outreach and programs.
Continually train and develop staff in areas of customer service, product knowledge, collection management, and visual merchandising.
Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and conduct community needs assessments.
Design and deliver virtual and in-person training to build staff capacity to support system priorities.
Represent the library in the community and build relationships with stakeholders including elected officials, schools, Friends of the Library groups, and other community organizations.
Under the direction of the Access Services Division Manager, the Access Services Senior Librarian will: Oversee equitable collection development, ensuring a diverse and up-to-date collection that meets educational, informational, and entertainment needs of the community is available (selection, purchase, layout, and deselection).
Ensure our practices and guidelines are centered in community need and are regularly updated with corresponding training for all public services staff.
Oversee needs assessment, evaluation, selection, licensing, renewing, and the coordination of the library’s public use subscription databases.
Support staff in managing multiple contracts and agreements with our various vendors.
Analyze existing collections, community trends, and ILS data to identify the needs and interests of diverse communities, anticipates public demand, and improves collection performance.
Collect and rigorously interpret data related to library performance and submit statistical reports regularly.
Advocate for the American Library Association's Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenet of a public library.
Analyze and respond to data and community trends to drive purchasing decisions to ensure a highly utilized collection.
Supervise and support the Access Services team, providing professional development, guidance, and coaching as needed.
